Work has started on the construction of a new 66-bed care home in Dundee.   Balhouse Care Group has approved Muirfield Contracts to build the 5 million "flagship" home at the St Ronan's site on Dalkeith Road.

The home will offer nursing and residential care and will incorporate a wing for residents with dementia. 

Muirfield has already worked with Balhousie on a number of other projects.   Balhousie manager director Graham Ogilvie said :

"We chose the team at Muirfield because of ther partnership approach and experience in constructing other health care developments, including a number of our care homes.   We were also impressed by their keeness to work closely with us to deliver a high- quality development that will allow us to provide an extremely high level of comfort for residents, as well as offering the expected standards of excellent in residential care."

Construction work is expected to take around a year to complete.
